VINE SOFTWARE - REMOTE SITE MONITORING

If you have your site on a local machine how do you know if it is working correctly? Just accessing it locally is not sufficient: what happens if your Internet connection is down - or more pernicious - overloaded so people cannot access your site, or if your firewall is mis-configured and is blocking traffic?

Vine Software can offer various services to give you confidence that your site is behaving itself. If it is not they can fix it for you.

The monitoring service will do the following things for you:

	Regularly check your server to ensure that your web site, FTP server and other services you offer to the outside world over the Internet are accessible.
	If a service is not available but remote access is possible, investigate and where possible fix the fault. If remote access is not possible inform the local System Administrator so they can re-establish Internet access to the server.
	Monitor other regular jobs, such as backups, to ensure that they have run correctly.
	Monitor system resources such as disk space, system load etc and if they have inappropriate values take remedial action before they cause a problem.

Small print
This service is offered on the basis of best efforts during working hours. Although your site will be monitored continuously any remedial work will be done during normal working hours.

If you require round the clock monitoring there are companies which offer such a service at an appropriately much higher price.
